insglück makes history with BIOTOPIA BrandEx Award

insglück celebrates a sensational success at this year's BrandEx Award 2024 in Dortmund. The German Garden "BIOTOPIA - Growing Community" at Floriade Expo 2022 was awarded double gold on the stage of the sold-out BrandEx award ceremony. The Expo project received gold in the "Best Executive Architecture" as well as the "Best Thematic Exhibition" category. The agency was also recognized for the best-placed project overall, as BIOTOPIA achieved the highest jury score with 902 out of 1000 points. This was the first time in BrandEx history that any project had been awarded this honor.

Founder and former Managing Director of insglück, Detlef Wintzen, who left the company in 2023, was the creative lead of "BIOTOPIA" and delighted by this special honor. Wintzen is pleased that the topic of "urban gardening" has been given a spotlight, especially because it is hardly practiced consistently – even though sustainability has become a major buzzword across industries.

With the slogan "Growing Green Cities", the Floriade Expo 2022 sought answers for a greener urban future. Humorous, multi-layered, and light, insglück created an urban utopia that promotes co-creativity, diversity, and exchange. Innovative solutions and best-practice examples for a greener urban future were communicated through playful interactions throughout the entire pavilion. The role of community became the central narrative - BIOTOPIA was a positive and activating invitation to get involved. BIOTOPIA was not only concerned with sustainable solutions – BIOTOPIA itself was also sustainable! All components were subsequently reused or recycled. The team successfully combined content, relevance, and scenographic design into a single unit.

With over 25 awards in internationally renowned creative competitions, BIOTOPIA is one of the agency's most successful projects. "I'm very proud that we managed to perform so fantastically despite a crisis-ridden project period - including post-Covid, the war in Ukraine, and the resulting shortage of raw materials and price increases," explains Christian Poswa, CEO of insglück. "Our interdisciplinary team has brought together many creative ideas to create a great overall performance, for which I would like to once again express my greatest thanks and respect to everyone involved."

The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture was responsible for the German Garden at the Floriade Expo 2022. The Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH was commissioned with the implementation. insglück was responsible for the content and exhibits. Design and implementation were in the hands of the ARGE consortium, consisting of insglück, gtp2 Architekten, and studio grüngrau Landschaftsarchitektur.
